Mr. Cortez-Spanish

jcortez@steugene.net

My name is Jackson Cortez, born and raised in Los Angeles, California. My parents are from El Salvador. I am the middle child of three and the only male among my siblings. I am bilingual, and fluent in both Spanish and English. I am passionate about education, programming, flying drones, and hiking. One of my favorite hikes has been to the Grand Canyon, and I hope to do an overnight hike there someday, which is on my bucket list.

Currently, I teach Spanish and fifth-grade math at St. Eugene School. I bring a diverse educational background to my teaching, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cal State University, Long Beach, and multiple associate degrees from West Los Angeles Community College in psychology and computer science. I am also currently pursuing my M.A. in education from Mount Saint Mary University.

Prior to joining St. Eugene School, I worked as a special education assistant, where I supported students with autism and emotional disorders using techniques like ABA therapy to help them reach their full potential. I also worked as a tutor, providing one-on-one and group tutoring across various subjects, with a strong focus on adaptive support for diverse learning needs.

I am dedicated to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that helps students achieve their highest academic potential. It gives me great satisfaction to watch students succeed and believe in themselves. My faith guides me, believing that we can do anything through Christ, who empowers our minds, hearts, and spirits.
